Since becoming the Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families many colleagues I have met in government and from schools and local authorities have told me how important the feedback from the Tellus survey is to them and how much the information can help them to improve outcomes for children and young people.
It was even more encouraging for me to hear that more schools than ever have agreed to take part in Tellus4 this year. The more schools and pupils that do so, the more confident we can all be in using the intelligence the survey provides and the better we will understand the issues that are important to children and young people.
This website has been developed as a “one stop portal” to provide you with all the information to help support its delivery. New to the survey this year are the Curriculum materials especially developed by NFER and their partners for schools to use to support participation in the survey as part of the PSHE and Citizenship, curriculum. The pre survey lesson plans are designed to help children understand how the survey can help them influence Government and develop their sense of empowerment. The post survey lesson plans will help them identify the trends in the schools data and how to plan safely to address the issue of concern to them.
I am looking forward to hearing from some of the children and young people who take part in this year’s survey and to hearing their ideas for improving the services they receive.
